Tribal classes around the LBC?
OK, you LBC dancers, help a tribal gal out woncha?

I need some beginning classes, Sat. or Sun. afternoons. Katerina does not have any beginning classes right now and the Om Sisters will not be having classes at Merry's Sunday afternoons (their schedule at The Infinate on 5th and Pine doesn't quite fit mine).

Don't mind going into the OC a bit for classes.

Any suggestions?

BDSS in Orange County, CA, USA - Feb 22
Hey y'all. I haven't seen this publicized too heavily (heck! I only found out about it yesterday, and bought my tickets today), so I thought I'd drop a little reminder that the Bellydance Superstars are having a one-night-only performance in Orange County, California on the evening of Feb. 22, just about two weeks from now.

Details are hyar:
What: Babelesque
Where: Orange County Performing Arts Center, Costa Mesa, CA
When: Friday, February 22, @ 8pm
How: Tickets are between $23 and $52; the venue is not that large, so I'm not certain how many tickets in each price range are left.

Here's a direct link to the page where you can purchase tickets.

Also, a link to the YouTube preview video of Babelesque, in case you were curious.

Middle Eastern Dance Recital
Hi everyone!

I was wonderign if anyone would be attending/performing at the Middle Eastern Dance Recital at the mission valley YNCA this sunday. It's from 3 - 5pm. tickets are 5$ in advanced and 10$ at the door. Marula organized it, I think.

Also, I was wondering if anyone would object to my posting of bellydance dvd reviews?

Bellydance show, Los Angeles, 9/29
The company I dance with, Ya Harissa!, is performing its monthly show at Synergy Cafe in Culver City.

The show is free (you should purchase something from the cafe), and you get about two hours of group and solo numbers by the troupe! This time we will also be featuring live music from a guest musician.

Synergy has some tasty foods and lovely caffeinated beverages to accompany your viewing activities...

Come out and see us if you're in the area - we'd love to get some fellow dancers out for the show!

The 411:
Synergy Cafe
4437 Sepulveda Blvd in Culver City
8pm (tho if you want to sit, show up early), September 29

New member!
All I really wanted to do as an intro is link to my teacher's website:

And to let you all know that there are beginning and intermediate bellydance classes at the san diego mesa college. The style that is being taught is American Cabaret.

Beginning is on saturdays, 8 - 10 AM. Intermediate is 5 - 7 PM.

Let's see...we performed at this year's sameda fair! The Mesa College Bellydance Company (I know, we don't really have an imaginative name...).

Um...yeah...s'about all I wanted to post about, haha.

I live in Torrance and am currently taking ATS classes in Long Beach. I'm thinking I could use a change of pace and I've been wanting to branch out in Tribal Fusion for almost as long as I've been dancing. I'm looking at a 45 minute drive at LEAST from where I am to any Tribal teacher in the south bay and I'd really rather not have to go to LA or Hollywood unless it's like...a life or death situation.

I've taken workshops hosted by Sashi before though I've never actually learned from her. It's going to be kind of a big commitment quitting my current class and investing extra driving time and money into another class session. I was hoping to drop in on one of Sashi's classes, and I was also hoping they were ongoing. Alas, she doesn't offer drop-ins and all of her classes are consecutive. Meaning if I purchase 6 classes and can't attend one then I'm S.O.L. In order to determine weather or not I can handle the drive and if the class material is appropriate for me, it looks like I'm going to have to put down the $60 for 6 classes and commit to driving to Orange County every Sunday night.

I've pretty much decided that I want to do it, and I'm also pretty sure that it'll be worth my while. But there is always that nagging suspicion that I might be missing out on a more convenient and equally rewarding opportunity with a local teacher I don't know about yet, or that if I make the time/money investment I might just not get along with the teacher or something terrible could happen and the sky could come crashing down. I might just be in need of some assurance or maybe some suggestions on other teachers to keep in mind if I can't handle the drive.

Thanks :)
